The "DVD-R DL" subcategory also known as DVD-R double layer or DVD-R dual layer identifies the disc as capable of holding 8.5G of data and compatible with dvd-r dl burners.
DVD-R DL discs are not recommended for commercial applications because they are less compatible than DVD+R DL on dvd players. Ideal for personal use.They come either branded (with a logo), silver matte or inkjet printable. These are currently available from Verbatim, and Ritek Ridata.
