Optical discs in the 8cm size were originally developed and used to release music CDs (single songs), but later was developed for use in camcorders. Despite its smaller size, mini DVDs can be played back in most CD/DVD players (just look to see your media player tray as a identation to place a smaller disc). Single layer mini DVD Rs can hold 30 minutes of video or 1.4GB of data per disc with standard DVD video quality. Double Layer and Dual Layer variations of mini DVD Rs also exist, which can provide a maximum capacity up to 5.2GB.
