DVD+R (pronounced "DVD plus R") recordable format was developed by the corporations of the DVD+RW Alliance. Since this format was developed by another organization, DVD-R and DVD+R have different standards. DVD+R for example, has some advanced burning disc abilities, such as being able to write additional data to disc even when a burning session has been completed and "bitsetting". DVD+R has also been known to have better archiving capabilities. In fact, DVD+R DL is much more compatible on today's burners than the DVD-R DL genre. Popular types of DVD+R discs include: DVD+R Dual Layer, DVD+R Double Layer, and LightScribe DVD+R.
