The DVD-RAM format is a DVD format wherein DVD-RAM discs can be recorded and erased repeatedly but are only compatible with devices manufactured by the companies that support the DVD-RAM format. They most closely resemble a recorded disc from a manufacturer and are very good for data archiving. Ideal for stand alone dvd recorders.
