DVD+RW discs are rewritable optical discs that are capable of being burned and rewritten up to about 1,000 times before needing a replacement. The recordable format follows the standards set for the DVD+R disc format developed by the DVD+RW Alliance organization. DVD+RW discs currently are available with burn speeds of up to 8x.
Compatibility for DVD players and DVD drives are typically considered on par with rival DVD-RW format, but less than write once formats DVD-R and DVD+R. There are some stand alone dvd recorders that are only DVD+RW compatible.
